G - Gratitude

letraG

Gratitude is the feeling that we experiment  when we receive something, and normally we want to give something else back somehow.

There are situations when just saying the word thanks feels enough to show your gratitude, but there are some others when that is not enough.
Sometimes the feeling of gratitude is so big that there are not enough words or deeds that can show how grateful you are.

I have just been in that situation, where there is no way I can show how grateful I am because I have received so much and I can't even start to show my gratitude.

On the 16th of February I went into surgery to have a hip replacement. Apparently a simple procedure. Well, as it happens during the intervention there were some complications and my sciatic nerve was badly damaged.
As you can imagine it was more than painful and I had to spend almost a month in hospital. (If you want to know more details just read my posts on that).
I am 34 years old, and I have two little ones, the oldest is just 3 years old and the youngest 14 months.
So Suddenly I found myself needing to have someone with me at the hospital 24 hours a day and someone to take care of my daughters.
My husband commutes to another city to work and although he took some time off, he couldn't stay in two places at the same time, and then after almost two weeks off work he had to go back.
My family live five hours drive from us and my parents aren't in good health anyway. My husband only has one sister living in this country, the rest live in the UK.  And they did as much as they could.
Are you getting the picture? We needed people to help us.
Well, we go to a church here in town, and the women in church stayed with me and my babies for the whole time while in hospital, and even now that I am home they still come to help.
For me it was overwhelming, but on top of that, so many people were praying for us and phoning, and sending messages by email, but on top of that (again), the response from my blogger friends was outstanding.

Throughout this experience I have found a treasure, and I will keep it in my heart for ever. I have found that gratitude is very closed to love, I would even say that they go by the hand.

I am so thankful, that I don't find words. Gratitude is what is in my heart for everyone who in some way or another is helping me to overcome one of the worst times in my life. Thanks to all of you.

Noemi, I'm so sorry that you had complications from your surgery. You are much too young to have had a hip replacement. I hope you are getting stronger each day. Enjoy your wonderful family that you are truly grateful for. Julie

Inspiring post. While you won't be able to repay the kindness of your friends, you do have the comfort of knowing that God placed such good people around you! Hope your recovery continues to go well.

I think gratitude is very good for our health and well being. Spending time everyday to ponder what we are grateful for, is important. I read a book about the study of being grateful and people who take note of all they are grateful for everyday, actually live longer and are happier.
I'm so sorry that you've had to go through this, I hope you are recovering well. God is good!
