Blog hopping

For my Bead Soup Blog Party post please go HERE.

************************

Well, I am still Blog hopping.

As I am visiting each of the blogs that participated on the Bead Soup Blog Party, I am trying to leave sincere and thoughtful comments, and oh boy, that takes time. Too much time.

And I am also trying to write an email to everyone who has left a comment on my Blog.
And that also takes time.

On top of that I am trying to really be on top of my game on Etsy, listing new items, joining teams to promote my shop and meet new and interesting people with interesting shops.
Also linking everything to my Facebook page and writing on my blog.
Again, time.

And if that wasn't enough, I have just joined pinterest. It is really cool, but honestly I don't see how is that going to promote my shop. If anyone knows, please let me know.
Time, time, time.

And all that is on top of everything else that I have to do at home, and going to Physiotherapy, and trying to squeeze sometime to make some jewellery.

I know, I know that we are all very busy, I know.
But hey, do you want to know how do I get to do all?
Well, it is thanks to my many sleepless nights. I don't recommend it though.
I have found a good way of seeing the hours go by when I can't sleep. I just get to work. So you see, that is one of the joys of working in something you love, that when you need to do overtime it is actually a joy.

Now, tell me, how do you squeeze everything that needs to be done?
We should ask Lori and see how she does it, and preferably without that much pie.
I still cannot see how she managed to visit and leave a comment on each and every single blog.

I take my hat off.

*************************************

Tiempo, tiempo, tiempo.

(Clock by Vector Cloud - Etsy)

Bead Soup Blog Party - Reveal Day

Ok, now it is for real, the Bead Soup Blog Party has arrived!! And I am taking part!

Last week I got mistaken as I thought that the reveal day was last Saturday. Very clever, huh?
I had just arrived home from Seville after a month and a half at my parents, and I think that I was a bit lost, for  as soon as I got home I got to work on my pieces, thinking that the next day was 17th of September.
There is nothing like working under pressure.

Now let me introduce you to my partner Penny Ilagan.
She is from The Philippines and a very talented Polymer Clay artist. She makes wonderful pieces for you to use on your new designs, so if you would like to purchase something made by her just pop over to her Etsy shop, where you will not only find polymer clay focal pieces and clasps but other bits and pieces made of brass or natural stone.

She sent me the most gorgeous clasp ever. Honest.
I loved it as soon as I saw it, but as this is so different to the tiny ones I am so used to use it was a great challenge for me to find the right way to use it.
I normally like to make kind of simple pieces with not too many colours going on, so, Lori, you have partnered me perfectly as her clasp is TOTALLY the opposite.

(My Bead Soup ingredients)

The only thing I knew for sure when I started to make this bracelet was that I wanted the clasp to be the focal piece as well, as it is gorgeous. At the end I decided to go totally out of my comfort zone and use fabric with three different chains with lots of dangles. So not what I normally do.
I used a beautiful hand dyed silk ribbon, which works great with the clasp. I also added some of the mother of pearl beads that Penny sent me along with the tiny butterflies and some Swarovski crystals to add some bling to it.
So what do you think? Does still have my name written on it? I am not sure if I have achieved what I wanted.  Honest feedback!!??
By the way, it was so hard to take pictures of this bracelet that I am not sure that you can see it properly.
That's one of my new goals for this new year,  to learn to take proper pictures of my jewellery.

The focal Penny sent me is also fantastic. So beautiful and romantic. But again, not my thing at all.
For this one I kind of knew from the beginning what to make.
As the focal has so much going on, and it was so beautiful on its own, I was tempted to make a chain and hang it from it, but I thought that this deserved a bit more than just a simple chain. Still I kept it simple.
Again I used few of the beads that Penny sent me. I also used a brass key. It just felt right. Having the key to my heart next to it. It speaks of romantic stories to me. Doesn't it?

I am quite pleased with it, but don't know if I should have done something else. Should I have done something more complex?

I hope you liked what you have seen and don't forget to visit all the participants.
I know that the reveal day is today, but with so many participants I think we should call it the reveal weekend or even better the reveal week, so we don't miss on anyone.

Don't forget our great hostess Lori Anderson, who has created not only a great event but a great network, giving us the opportunity of meeting great and talented people from all five continents.

Enjoy!!

Finally!!

Oh boy! I thought it would never arrive.
Penny, my Blog Soup Partner, wrote me yesterday to tell me that her bead soup just arrived. With two days to spare!!!

Honestly, it had me so worried, I though that it wouldn't arrive on time.

I am so looking forward to tomorrow as this will be my first time participating. I did intended to take part on the BSBP last February, but even though I got to send my soup I was still in hospital, so I couldn't participate.

Here it is what I sent to Penny. A selection of beads of purple, pink and white. All very soft and nice. A few sterling pieces and a little souvenir from Salamanca: a sterling silver Charro button.
I can't wait to see what she makes with all of this.

(I have borrowed this picture from Penny)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Madre mia!

Next time you look for the word "Stupid" in the dictionary you may find a picture of me next to it.

Can you believe that I thought that Reveal day for the Bead Soup Blog Party was today?
Yep. As I have been so busy and my bead ingredients just arrived few days ago I have been working odd hoous to have everything ready for today. I even got to publish my post, but it was only when I started to check other blogs that I thought: "How weird...I can't believe that Nicky, and Courtney haven't posted their Bead Soup items yet..." And it was then that... "D'OH!!" I realized that it was not this Saturday but NEXT Saturday!!!

The good thing is that I already have my pieces done and I might just take better pictures as today was a bit cloudy and I could use a bit more natural light.

My bead soup

A couple of days ago I got my bead soup, but with everything going on right now I am finding very difficult to find a couple of hours to sit with my bead soup and work.

Right now it is past 3am and even though I can´t sleep I can't get on with it, so I thought to write instead, although to be honest this late hours are not the best for writing as I can't think clearly.

Anyhow, here is my soup! It was so exciting to get it on time for the reveal day. As for for Penny, my partner, I am a bit worried as she hasn't recieve them yet. She said she is not worried as she is used to delays on mail, as sometimes Costums take a while to release the packages. Even so I can't but think that she might not be able to participate and that saddens me.

As I mentioned before she is very talented working with Polymer Clay, and that is what she sent, with some natural stones, crystals and brass findings.

I loved everything she sent but it so not what I like to use to make my jewelry, but that's the point, right?

This toggle clasp is georgeous. I have an idea of what I would like to make, but still working on how to do it.

As for the focal, it is so beautiful on its own that I wouldn't do much to it.

Well, if you would like to find out what all this items will become, just come back on Saturday, and as you join me why don't you pay a visit to some of this year's participants. I am not saying all of them beacouse there are a whoppig 362 participants!!!

So, are you taking part on this fabulouse event hosted by Lori Anderson?

-----------------------------------------------------

My Bead Soup Blog Party Partner!!

Yaks!! I have been without internet for almost two weeks!!
So much has been going on during this time, but I will let you know in different posts to not overwhelme you.

I finally got my Bead Soup Blog Partner.
Her name is Penny Ilagan, she is from Philippines and she makes wonderful items with Polymer Clay.
You can see her work on her blog, and visit her two Etsy shops. One for her jewelry and another one for her handmade jewelry components and other supplies.

Look at this cute little owl. Isn't it great?

And look at this pendant.

It was a bit of an ordeal to get to talk with each other, but after a rocky start, we sent each other our Bead Soup ingredients.
Now, as she lives in Philippines, mail takes about....fover!!!
We haven't recieved our beads yet, just a week before the event takes place. I only hope we get to make our pieces on time.

I didn't know what to send this time around, so I sent items that I normally use when designing my jewelry. After all we have very different styles so if I send what I love using when creating I will be giving her enough tools to work and create something out of her comfort zone.

(I finally got my Bead Soup ingredients!! How exciting!
I have to take pictures first to show you!!)
.........................................................................................

(Ya he recibido mis ingredientes!!
