Kosta Boda

Have you ever heard of them? I am pretty sure you have.

Well, few years ago, when in Sweden, I had the great pleasure of visiting their factory. It was just awesome.
My husband and I were visiting some friends in Southern Sweden, and as they know how much I am into arts and crafts, they took us for a treat (well, not as much for my husband as it was for me, although he enjoyed it almost as much as I did). They took us to visit the Kosta Boda glass works. It was an experience, let me tell you.
I have always liked to work with glass. It just amazes me, that by blowing and tapping, and turning a blob of melting glass you can create so many wonderful things. I have never tried myself, but at some pint I am going to take a course on blowing glass.

Well, we took a tour and we could talk with the artisans and designers, they are so nice and helpful, but also so talented!! I remember this guy who was telling me how he loves going to Spain for holiday with his wife every year, and while he was telling me this he just made the most wonderful red vase. It looked so easy to make, the way he used a scissor to cut the amount of glass that he needed and the turning and blowing of the bulb of glass and then, it was done. Just wonderful.

Once we finished the tour seeing the different technics and ways of working glass, we got into the shop, and oh boy!, I wanted to buy everything!! Next time I go there I must have saved some money to spend in there. I wasn't prepared last time.

I just want to take the opportunity to highly recommend that if you happen to be in Sweeden, don't miss the opportunity of paying them a visit. You will be pleased.
